After ensuring you’re medically fit for the therapy, the assistant helps you sit inside the chamber and help push you inside. Pillows and blanket are available to make you comfortable. Portable fan, walkie talkie, cotton balls for ears are provided. While you rest, the oxygenated air is piped into the chamber and the pressure inside gradually increases.

During the hour-long treatment, you can rest or read while you breathe normally. You will notice pressure in your ears as the pressure in the chamber changes, just like in an airplane. Pop ears several times to neutralize the pressure. You can chew gum, swallow, or yawn to pop your ears.

Many people are claustrophobic and worry about being “locked up” in the chamber. Most people can overcome this by taking a friend or partner inside for 1st visit. Remember there is no lock and door close due to pressure. Also there are controls inside that allow the patient to come ourt on their own. Regardless the treatments are monitored by staff to ensure your safety and comfort.

During the last 10-15 minutes of the treatment, as the pressurized air is removed, the pressure gradually returns to normal. The door will open automatically and you are free to come out!
